Hey all I have been playing around with the wilton's buttercream icing recipe and I finally have a great tasting icing that does not feel like lard when you eat it. I don't know if anyone else has posted this or figured this out but I am excited that I did. So here is my recipe:

1/2 cup soild vegetable shorting
1/2 cup soild butter shorting
*I get the ones that are in the sticks like butter is*
1 cup butter
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
8 cups of sifted confectioners sugar *I use dixie crystals brand*
6 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream

In large bowl, cream shortenings and butter with electric mixer. Add vanilla. Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, after adding 4 cups mix in 2 tablespoons of heavy whipping crea. Add rest of heavy whipping cream and beat at medium speed until light and fluffy. For a more thick icing use 4 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream

YIELD: Makes about 6 cups.

I hope if this is new to you, you enjoy this recipe! icon_biggrin.gif
