Actually they are twinkies dipped in melted canned frosting. The mouths are fruit roll-ups, with royal icing teeth.

Here are my 2 new favorites - I made them for a bake sale at my son's school this weekend. I've been working very hard to make GOOD scratch cupcakes - and FINALLY did it with these. And they were fun to make!

Now those are some cheerful looking cupcakes! I love the butterflies!

cre8ivemary
That is a great idea! Did you use fondant for the tops? Is the rest of it edible as well?

augustaharrison

Your flowers are beautiful! I love how you used the plastic as a filler!

I agree boysmom,
I thought you did a terrific job with those liners. I bought them awhile ago with the pan. The liners do not fit in that pan at all and considering they were made for the pan, to me they were a big disappointment. I wish they would redo the liners to fit in the huge cupcake pan, then I would really enjoy making them.I took them out again just the other day and then said forget it, this is going to be disappointing!!

Pood, How did you keep your butterfly wings up while they dried to the body? Really cute!

Andpotts, the wings were dried separately on a sheet of waxed paper. After they were dried I placed them on the cupcakes and added the buttercream body. Hope this helps. Thank you for your comment. There is also a pictures of these in my photos.
