I am making a cake, but am concerned about using my chocolate mousse filling and sourcream frosting because the cake will be sitting out for a while (in July!!) What substitutes can I use for the heavy cream and sour cream in my recipes?
July is a hard month even for b/c cakes and fillings.
I know of no substitutes for heavy cream or sour cream that can withstand hours of July's hot temperatures.
Might want to rethink what recipes can be safely used under those conditions.
Please........any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
If it's going to be outside for a period of time in July, I'd skip doing a fancy cake altogether. I know - that's blasphemy here
Hot weather makes me think of things like fruit salad, cookies, strawberry shortcake (keep the berries and whipped cream in the cooler until it's time to serve), etc.
