ugh...I just made a triple batch of the Wilton Buttercream recipe. It seems to have a bitter aftertaste, or maybe more chemical tasting.
I used Crisco, water, meringue powder (new). Wilton clear vanilla (new) and powder sugar.
I don't remember it tasting like this before. Maybe I'm being super critical and it will be ok.
Any suggestions on what it might be?
It's the vanilla. I HATE wilton's clear vanilla. I always get LorAnn. Not the tiny bottles but a regular size vanilla. They have it at Hobby Lobby. Wilton's just tastes like chemicals to me.
That, or it could be the new Crisco that doesn't have the trans fats.
Either way...I hate Wilton "buttercream" LOL I prefer real butter and real vanilla.
