Sanding Sugar?

What is sanding sugar? Can you make it? Just curious, I need something to look like the salt around a margarita glass. Thanks

Sanding sugar is mostly used for decorating cookies, I believe. I would suggest just coloring your granulated sugar with food color and using that to imitate the salt.

There is some sanding sugar that is coarse, like coarse salt, and would look great around your margarita cookies! It has a sparkle to it as well. I like it! You could use regular sugar too. I've never colored it myself though, sounds like fun! Have you done that, SPF?

No, actually I haven't but I did see it somewhere on line (might have even been on CC. I don't remember). And it's easy to do. I've never had the need to so I've never tried it.
