Royal Icing Question New To Cake Decorating

Have 2nd class of course 2 tonite have to make the royal icing. Instructor said if we have a KA to use that to make it. Ok I understand that but....my question is which attachment do I use the pastry one or the whisk one?? Sorry if its a stupid question but I really am new to using the KA. icon_surprised.gif

I use the whisk attachment to beat royal icing. There aren't any dumb questions icon_smile.gif

There are no dumb questions at all!!! I use the whisk attachment too to make royal icing.

I'm so glad you asked that question. I have only made royal icing once and wondered the same thing. The recipe I have says to mix it for 12 minutes. Is 12 minutes really neccessary? It seems like such a long time.

it says to beat till it loses its shine icon_smile.gif

so if it doesn't take 12 minutes to lose its shine then stop...

but what I don't understand is why you wouldn't want the shine LOL
