The first (and only) time I tried to paint fondant, I mixed color dust with vodka but the painting was extremely streaky. Maybe I'm missing something but I'd really love to give this another shot because there is a cake I have my heart set in trying.

Can anyone give me some ideas as to how to avoid the streaks? I'm looking to get even coat but it seems to difficult!

I should have specified that I'd like to use gel/paste colors this time.

the streaks wont be as bad if your using gel or paste colours. it will be more like painting. do avoid going over and over the same area as it will start to lift off and eat into the fondant abit. but otherwise its pretty easy.

You might want to invest is this book:
Painting on Sugar (A **Sugar- - - craft Skill Series book)
Herbert, Lesly/Hodgkinson, Jean

(**Sugar---craft is hyphenated because the word is blocked by CC)
