I am doing a Comminion cake, due May 2nd, and my person wants the cross pan. Told her no problem...how many people? She invited about 40 people, but only expects about 25-30.

Explained to her that the cross pan feeds about 14-16 people and a 12x18 will fee about 70-72. She doesn't want any extravegant decorations, just simple writing and some blue roses.

Depending on which one she wants I was was going to charge $50 for the cross and $65-$70 for the 12x18...does this sound fair?

I think t your pricing might be a little off. If the cross only feeds like 15 then it should be much less than the 12x18 that feeds triple.

i am charging a co worker $30 for a simple cross with cookies and cream filling. And that's with 2 layers. I would charge for a 12x18 (double layer) at least $90-its ALOT of cake!!

good luck to you!

Tara-

Thanks for your advice. I would feel bad if I charged her $50.00. Guess I wanted to see what I could get a way with! That's so bad.

How would you fill that type of cake? Do you make 2 or just torte it?

I'm making two 'cause she needs it to feed 20 plus people. But you could torte it (I guess-I've never done it myself)

Good luck!

You might want to search pricing on here.
There have been a number of great threads on here.
The best suggestion that i have found was by indydebi who says she charges by serving for all cakes - that way you never have to defend your pricing. i think this is great advice.

this video is a great clip I saw on here too that illustrates this point.

Good luck icon_smile.gif
