I'm doing a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and the light blue polka dots. There are lots of examples in the gallery.

I am looking for a chocolate frosting recipe that is a dark brown in color?

Do ya'll add brown food coloring to your choc frosting or does yours come out dark by nature?

I would like to use the chocolate ganache filling and keep seeing people say whipped? Do you just make regular ganache and then whip it up. Does that make it hold the next layer better?

Thanks
Cristy

I add brown coloring to mine if I want it dark.

As for ganache, you don't have to whip it. But if you whip it , it will be a little lighter in texture and color than if you don't. If you are worried about it holding up between layers, you could always use an icing dam.
