Shipping Cakes..any Suggestions???

Well........I got an email from a person associated with the NBA who loved the Purse cake I did for her in law. So the hubby and her want cakes from me for all the birthdays. Im excited..right???? well they want them shipped. Im in NJ and they are in NC. Any suggestions??? I dont know if they are BC or Fondant cakes yet.

There were two or three threads about shipping cakes in the last couple days. I don't have the links for them handy, but if you search for "shipping cakes" they should come up. It can be done, but you never know what's going to happen, so pack the cake very carefully and use fondant.

I shipped a fondant cake from Texas to Massachusetts. The pics and how it arrived are on the Caked Alaska website link in my signature line.

I can't imagine shipping a buttercream cake. The packing materials would touch it and make a mess.

I thought it would be hard to ship BC. i saw Sylvia W do it, But she flies her cakes. I wonder if they would pay for it to fly? Thank you for the info.
