I was wondering if you can do anything to a pound cake box mix to make it taste any better. I tried putting vanilla beans in it but I couldn't taste them once the cake was baked. Maybe I didn't put enough in?

I know with regular box mixes, I add an extra egg and pudding mix and it is tasty. I haven't found what I can do with a pound cake box mix yet. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I guess it depends on what flavor you want. Adding more flavoring should do the trick.
Sounds like you didn't use enough vanilla bean. How much did you put in?

I had real vanilla beans and just scraped some paste into the mix. I can't say how much since the beans are so tiny - maybe a 1/4 of a teaspoon?

Can you use imitation vanilla extract over the real vanilla beans/paste? Would that give it more taste?
