I reprinted directions for this and don't remember putting both halves together last time I made this (2 yrs ago), just baked each half then put it together. Also, am charging folks $25 for this...........but the directions don't say how many it serves....hopefullly 12-15 because that is what I told everyone. For some reason the cake does not look very big to me anymore. Has anyone done one of these this year?
I made it last year and it served a bout 15-18 as an egg on it's side 2 halves stacked with butter cream inbetween and it was a hit.
Depending on serving sizes it can easily serve 12-15 ppl.
with my 3d egg pan, you're supposed to bake the halves separately (set each pan on a metal ring) then stack together when cooled. just remember to slice a thin slice off of the bottom so it's stable!
