Help - I am out of veg. oil..was planning to make some cupcakes for guests that are coming in 1 hr. No time to go to store...what would be better to use..Olive oil, melted light butter with Canola Oil, melted crisco stick?
How about apple sauce? Its used frequently as a low fat alternative to oil in baking. I wouldn't use olive oil. The taste would probably carry over.
DEFINITELY do not use the olive oil. I've made that mistake before. It DOES affect the taste of your sweet stuff.
Applesauce is good. I've used melted butter, too, in place of oil. My cake came out pretty darn flat (Don't know if that's WHY or not) but it tasted good!
