I am pretty new to Cake decorating. This week I am having to make a birthday cake for my brothers 18th birthday.
I am wanting to make a tiered cake covered in buttercream but I want to use fondant accents on the cake, i.e stripes and bows.
How would fondant hold up on buttercream frosting?
Is it possible to do this or should I just cover the entire cake with fondant?

Fondant will hold up fine with buttercream. I have done several cakes frosted with buttercream and just stuck fondant decorations on them with no problem. The white cake with brown/pink dots and the Hannah Montana with dots and balls in my photos were both done this way.
