How in the heck do you get a nice looking freehanded scrollwork?? I practice first and it's decent looking (probably b/c it's on a flat surface), but I just can't get the knack on the side of the cake!! Either gravity pulls it out of shape, it breaks, or i end up sticking the tip into the icing and wreck it! I start on the backside and usually screw it up front and center (must be psychological).
I'm using BC by the way. The cake's done now, but all I see are the mess ups. DH says no one will notice and it's a free cake, but that's not the point!!
I know Wilton makes those press sets, but I don't really like them. Any tips for me?
