I use the Dawn Buttercream icing. I have always added cream bouquet to the icing and all of my customers find that the icing flavor is wonderful. However, yesterday I iced the cake and the icing tasted fine, but today the icing has a bitter taste and the after-taste is nasty. Any help? Any suggestions?

Did you tint it red? Other than some red coloring making the icing bitter, I'm not sure why the taste would change.

are your tastes buds off??? Have someone else try it. Has it been really hot where the butter could have turned on you??

It may be the color of icing that you used.

could it be the cake leeching a bad taste to the icing? is there anything in your cake that could have gone bad? i learned this the hard way very quickly...i'm pretty sure my filling went bad and then affected my cake and icing in turn. had to chuck the whole cake icon_sad.gif
