I am making a unicorn cake for a little girls birthday party and would like to make it shiny/sparkle. Would pearl dust work for this? Should I try to match the colors of dust to the fondant colors or can I just buy the super pearl?

I would use super pearl. That will lighten the color a bit, but will make it nice and shiny. If you try to match the color dust to the color fondant, you might end up with a shade that you didn't intend!

All of the cakes that I do, I finish by airbrushing a coat of super pearl. It really gives it a great effect.

It really depends on whether or not you're using buttercream or fondant.

Super pearl dust is wonderful on fondant, no matter what color. It gives it a nice sheen. You could also try to match the color of the luster dust. Its pretty much an either way situation.

I've never tried painting it on bc, so maybe someone else has a thought.

I'm sure whatever you come up with will be beautiful! Hope that helps!
