I've had some black in the fridge for about 1 1/2 weeks. Can I still use it?

I tried to find the answer on here first, but gave up because the search function is very slow right now!

TIA!

I'd use it if it were me. I'm sure it's fine for at least two weeks.

Butter keeps for weeks. Can't imagine why buttercram would be any different. i keep it frozen for months at a time, and in the fridge for up to a month (carefully covered so as not to pick up other tastes)

I agree with cakedesigner59, 2 weeks. If you aren't going to use it right away you can freeze it.

I have kept Sugarshack's recipe for buttercream in the refrigerator for 2 weeks and it was fine. I just whipped it a little and it worked and tasted great.

Even longer than two weeks! Don't worry about it at all. I don't blame you for not wanting to make another batch of black! Shortning isn't perishable, neither is sugar or vanilla. If you used milk, the sugar usually makes the milk last longer. if you used butter, that has a pretty long life too.
