I am making my first tiered cake. It really isn't very big I just stacked 2 6" cakes on top of each other with a filling. Now for the question I am adding a coffee cup ( made from cake) to the top of that, Do I need to have something between the layers or dowels. I am not sure if it is going to travel anywhere or not, depends on who I can pawn the cake off on. Any help is greatly appreciated

I would probably dowel under the coffee cup, just to be on the safe side.

If it is just two layers of 6" cake with filling in between, I would just dowel the cake to support the cup-shaped cake going on top.

If it is two 6" cakes (2 two-layer cakes with filling) and the cup, I would dowel the two cakes, then add the cup-shaped cake to the top.

Good luck! thumbs_up.gif
