Can someone please tell me how much 1 cup of shortening should weigh? I know I've read a thread that mentioned this, but I can't find it for the life of me. I just hate to measure it out in a cup.. it's so messy. Thanks!

I measured my shortening in a cup and then I weighed it, it came out to 4 ounces for me. That is the measurement I use.

Is the weight for hi-ratio shortening different than the weight on Crisco?

I usually measure it in grams for some reason and have been using 205 g for my measurement...

just checked and apparently that equals 7.2 oz.

Thanks for the replies! The label said that one tablespoon was 11 grams, so I just used that measurement. So for a cup it was 176 grams. Thanks again!
