I have a wonderful recipe for chocolate cake ,however I intend on making it for a 4 year old's birthday party, there is strong coffee in the recipe. What can I replace the coffee with?

What about just water or milk?

I was thinking about chocolate milk but the sugar in it may totally mess up the recipe.
