I love those severed finger cookies!!!

Ok, it may be a stupid question but how is everyone attaching the almonds to the cookies for a nail?? I tried baking them and then just sticking them on after, but they're falling off......

Suggestions??

I use red piping gel, enough so that a little oozes out the sides. Looks fabulously nasty!

I made some this week and I just pushed the almond slices in before baking and they seem to be well adhered.
See my photos it that helps...

I used jam to stick the almond nails on mine. They stuck really well and it gave a bloody effect!

it depends on the cookie dough you're using. I've made them with sugar cookie dough where I just stuck them in before baking and they stuck fine, but I just tried them with NFSC and they didn't stick so I had to attach them with a drop of RI. I think a softer dough works better plus when it "grows" a little during cooking that really holds the almond/nail in place.
