I just cut some 2"X 2" squares to make into petit fours and they look huge! What size are they supposed to be, and is it ok to make them more than a "bite"?
They can be whatever works. There are pastry shops that call 4" cakes petit fours. It is ok for them to be more than one bite.
1x1, 1.5x1.5, 2x2 are all fine. The smaller they are, the more servings you have to make.
I always make mine 1 1/2 x 1 1/2.
