I am planning on making carmel apples for my son's Halloween party Saturday. I want to send each child home with a carmel apple. I'm just using the wrapped carmels. The recipe on the bag says to put them in fridge, but why? Apples don't have to refrigerated and neither do carmels. The ones they sell in the store are not in the fridge section. Doesn't make sense to me! What do you think? Thanks. Jodie

The candy stores that sell caramel apples do not refrigerate them. I would think they are perfectly fine at room temp. Just be sure the apples are nice and fresh to begin with.
