When I use the cake extender recipe, I use all purpose flour and add a tablespoon of flavoring.

I use all purpose, and yes I add additional flavoring to mine. If its a vanilla cake I add vanilla, chocolate=cocoa, strawberry=strawberry extract, yellow cake=butter flavoring and so on. With the added flour you need to add some sort of flavoring, even if its just vanilla. Good luck !

The cake mix extender recipe is so simple I really don't understand why people make it so hard on themselves.

One cake mix - any flavor wanted
1 cup all purpose flour (some have used cake flour)
1 cup granulated sugar
3 whole large eggs
1 cup water
1 cup sour cream

Mix the dry ingredients together well.
Place 'wet' ingredients in mixer bowl and slowly add the dry stuff.
Mix and bake as one would any 'regular' cake mix.
Couldn't be simplericon_smile.gif
