What Icing/glue Do You Use For Gingerbread Houses

Can someone please tell me what Icing/Glue they use to put together Gingerbread houses.

I want to make sure that the entire "house" is ediable.

Royal Icing is what I use to glud the house it is ediable.

royal icing it dries hard as a rock and will not soften the gingerbread

I used royal icing for mine, and it held hard as a rock.
I have heard my friends say that the stuff that comes in the Wilton gingerbread kits doesn't hold worth a darn.

I have bought the Wilton kits, and the royal icing mixes in those kits are very hard to work with- If you took the Wilton courses, use the royal icing recipe there- it's much easier to work with!! I am in the process of making the Wilton Haunted House one for a Michaels' sponsored contest this weekend, and I threw all that mix out and made my own- it worked much better!! HTH
