This past weekend I painted with icing gel and vodka but it took over 15 hours to dry. Is it suppose to take that long? What am I doing wrong if it shouldn't take this long? I mixed about 2 tbsp of vodka with a few drops of gel. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, can we use other types of alcohol instead of vodka? What do you prefer to use?

Thank you!

I painted this weekend, also, and it dried very quickly. If you are over-painting to get a strong color, try less vodka and more color.

I always use lemon extract if I can. I dont like the smell of alchohol. But maybe your trying to paint too many coats too fast? I would try building up the color in layers letting it dry inbetween or use more color like Joanne said. But Ive never had anything take that long to dry unless I used water!!

That might be the problem...I was painting quite a while to achieve a darker color on the fondant. Thanks for the advices.
