Please help me.

I am seeking a source in the Montreal area for icing sugar. Not powdered or confectioner's sugar, but the true icing sugar like they use in the UK and AU. I was told today that it is available up there.

Would anyone know of a distributor, wholesaler, or retailer in that area?

Sorry I can't help you with an answer but please forgive a crazy question... what is true icing sugar that they use? Hopefully someone else can help you out with a distributor!

The icing sugar used in the UK does not have any cornstarch in it at all, it is pure icing sugar with nothing added!

Yes, SCS, that is exactly what I am speaking of, the extra fine sugar with no cornstarch in it. It is supposedly ground even finer than 10X, and works phenomenally.

Please check around, folks, as I do not have access to Yellow Pages up there, and see if you can find out anything about this product.

Sorry, but I am glad you asked. I am in the Toronto area and I have a brother who lives there and could pick it up for me so I am interested to know also.

Do you know if it crusts just as well and I would inagine less fat is needed?

I've done some digging....the site below lists pure icing sugar,which is Redpath ...at bottom under white

Yes, I am curious about how the icing turns out with the pure stuff.
I would also like to start buying larger quantities of Icing Sugar at a time.

Hello, all. I wish I had good news. Here is the verbatim response from the representative of RedPath, regarding their Icing Sugar.

"The current Icing sugar which Redpath sells in grocery stores contains cornstarch as an anti-caking component. It is a 6X sugar. We currently do not have a 10X icing sugar.

If you wish to purchase it in a larger size package, it comes in 20 kg bag. You can purchase it through our distributor in Montreal, Farinex, at (450) 437-7077."
