I'd like to know, if I make some hula dancers out of fondant for a theme cake, can I make them weeks ahead and they will still look good? I don't care if they taste good because they will most likely not be eaten. Also, do I need to add some gumtex as if I were making fondant roses? I will probably be using wilton brand pre-made fondant. I noticed that there is a tutorial here on cake central about how to make fairies out of fondant, and that's helpful on certain points. Are there any more free online tutorials you know of on how to mold or scupt with fondant to make dolls or small characters for the cake? Thanks in advance.

You can definitely add gumtex, it will make your figurines dry a bit faster. You can make them as far in advance as you'd like, but be sure to store away from light (or else the colors can fade) and moisture. Aine2 has several tutorial videos on her websites, here are the links she includes at the bottom of her signature:

She is definitely a fondant figure goddess!
