The cake needs to feed 500 people. They want the cake to replicate the old court house. It has four real big columns in the front. The cake is going to be about 14 inches tall so I need the columns need to be that tall. Then the domes on the top will be about 10 inches tall. I need help on the columns for sure and if there is any other advise I would really appreciate any.

Thanks
Shelley

gumpaste... unless they need to support cake. in that case I'd think some sort of plastic covered in fondant would work. I'm no expert though.... eager to hear others' thoughts.

I dont know if you could find these but I found some rather large plastic pillars at my local cake supply store they were fatter and maybe a little longer than the ones you use for the large separator plates, or maybe check out home depot perhaps you can find wooden spindles or trim that you can cut to size and paint or cover with fondant.

you could try PVC piping from Home Depot or Lowes, get it cut to the size you need... cover in fondant
