Hi, I'm new to this site and to cake decorating. For my daughter's 1st birthday, I'm making a hula girl cake. I was told to freeze the cake then cut and shape it. Do I cut it while it's frozen? That's what I was thinking but now I'm not so sure. Thanks for any advice.

Hi there...you're going to love this place....

re: your question....yes...cut it when it's frozen....it's much easier to shape because it doesn't crumble. Freezing a cake also changes it on a molecular level which results in a moister, denser, yummier cake!

Take cake...

You do not want it completely frozen That would be to hard to cut. I just refridgerate mine all day then cut I have never had any problems that way cuts smoothly and crumb free for me icon_smile.gif
