Cupcake Momma (Singapore) does stunningly beautiful things with cupcakes; I'm already a huge fan. Any idea what tip would be used on these cupcakes?

If you haven't already, treat yourself to a cup of coffee and watch the slideshows of all of her categories - I really think her stuff is funky & pretty & beautifully presented.

I'm guessing it's a large tip like you use in piping cream... or maybe the 1M tip from wilton?

I did something similar with some batman cupcakes - don't look quite as good as hers, but a similar finish.

I would guess she just used the coupler. Neat stuff!!

I would say a large round tip also.
I think the cups the cupcakes are baked in are interesting. I wonder if that is typical there? I would think it would be easier to smooth the frosting because you would have a sturdier edge to work with.

Honestly, I could look at cupcake photos all day (oops, just did)

I never thought of just using the coupler, that might be it, good call!

I've seen a couple of sites where cupcakes are baked in thes liners, someone mentioned they are regular little snack type cups (for nuts or mints) but I haven't seen them for sale anywhere here in Canada. But I am now on the hunt for them! They look so unique and have clean lines......

i've baked mini cupcakes before in little paper liners, but they fill up the liner just like a big cupcake & with these you can see the extra all around the outside--makes my wonder if they are baked in mini muffin pans and "sat" down in liners-hmmm

They're definitely baked right in the liners, I saw some chat about it on another website (maybe the All Cupcakes All the Time Blog?)...... I just want to know where I can get my hands on some, they'd make for a pretty display.

Her cupcakes look so artistic AND delicious, the best cupcakecombo!

Wilton couplers have notches in them for some of thier special tips. But you can buy couplers that do not have the slit in them. they are not wilton, i belive that aetco makes them.

Daltonam......I wondered too....but....Attach the ring to the coupler without a tip and that should solve the little 'notch' issue.....

It sounds from what you write as though she is a member here on CC. Why don't you PM her? Most people don't mind PMs...

7yyrt - I don't think she is a CC member, at least I haven't seen anything here that looks like her stuff, but thanks for the suggestion, I will see if I can contact her thru her website (if just to express my admiration!)

Those look like the portion cups to me also. I think I'll buy some and try to see how they come out. Found them on Ebay and also this website:

http://www.acemart.com/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AM&Product_Code=SOL200&cm_ven=YahooProd&cm_cat=CPC&cm_pla=CateringSuppliesCateringEquipmentDisposableCateringSupplies&cm_ite=2_oz._Paper_Souffle_Portion_Cup_(SOL200)

They're known as paper portion cups, sometimes paper souffle portion cups. I imagine I'd have to get the 2oz size? icon_rolleyes.gif

Did you see this one?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/sgcupcake_momma/196735828/in/set-72157594196277455/

It's on the same site, but not for sale. Chocolate? Candy melts? Something else? SOOO cute and elegant, perfect for a shower.

Okay, my mouse has this little SCROLL thingy on it--

Anyway, she says in the comments..

"The baking cups are called souffle cups or sometimes nut & party cups. In Singapore, where I'm staying you just need to go to specialised bakery stores to buy them. Not sure about Australia. However, you can get it online altho' the shipping fees might kill you."

and about these cupcakes..

"Thanks! Surprisingly the chocolate curls hold pretty well in our hot and humid weather. Not that it lasted that long in the open as the kids were hovering around waiting to pounce on them *LOL*

As for the frosting, I experimented and experimented until I get it right. Pretty happy with what I have so far but even then I do have bad frosting days!" So they are chocolate curls in the last link. Tiny curls, but adorable!

I think they might be the Wilton "nut and party" cups. I'm in Australia and I buy mine from a Wilton supplier here.

Here's a photo:

I have to start hunting for these cups here in Canada. I emailed the creator of Cupcake Momma admiring her work, I think she's awesome. Hope she takes the time to click onto Cake Central, anyone who loves cupcakes like that would LOVE Cake Central. Thanks for the advice on inviting her to CC....

I found it interesting how she had the cupcakes packed with styrofoam strips in between each one, sure would keep the cupcakes looking nice while transporting...no expensive carrier to buy.

I admired the styrofoam packaging as well, she's done a marvellous job. The styro inserts appear to be totally sizeable, so she can adjust for each order & cupcake size.
