I'm VERY pleased with it. I went to the hall this morning and set it up--took pics of it just to prove that it was perfect when I left--hopefully it will still be that way by 4:00 pm! It's constructed in a very sturdy manner, though, so I'm confident that it will hold up well.
Peacock and Debbie--I did go with Option #4--you were right about moving the iced 12" cake, too daunting of a task. It's actually completely different than the original plan being that I ended up stacking it instead of pillaring it--but it would have been the same decoration-wise, just on pillars between the tiers.
I have learned so much from my fellow decorators here, through your ups and downs, beautiful cakes and even disasters---thank you to all!!
There is a pic of the complete cake and of the detail scrolling. Notice that I "hid" the couples' monogram in the scrolling. Here it is.

Wow that turned out great! I know you're happy to have it finished. Isn't it great when you can finally put down your frosting bag, back up, and say "it's done!" I bet they will all love it! Congrats to you!!!

Yep--I was pretty nervous putting in the first ones--but after I started--I just went with it.
Thanks for the compliment!!

Absolutely Beautiful!!! I bet the bride and groom just loved it, not to mention the guests. You certainly should be proud of your work. I haven't made a wedding cake myself, but I hope when I finally do get the courage to do one it will be just as gorgous as yours!!!!
Absolutely gorgeous. I love it. Your scroll work is great, and your floral arrangement is very very pretty.
Lisa, I just went to your photo gallery & realized that this was your first wedding cake... WOW!!!!!!!!! I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!! Girl, keep up the great work!!! You'll get a lot of cake orders from that wedding cake!! Marvelous work!!!
Thanks you guys!! I was actually at the reception and it was just fine when I got there--even with the train tracks being 100 yards away! Yikes!!
The bride and groom loved it and I can honestly say that it tasted great!! The people at the reception were practically rushing the wait staff for seconds! Good thing it was a bit big for the number of guests.
I handed out my phone number to 2 people and my step-mom said she handed out my number to a few more. We'll see how that goes.
Anyway, thanks again for all your support.

It was iced completely in bc and smoothed as smooth as I could possibly get it. It took WAY longer to smooth it than it did to decorate it! lol! At least I didn't have to worry about smoothing the tops as they were covered with cake and flowers.
On the top tier, I made a heart with the bride and groom's momogram again. I thought it would be fun as something that only they would see.
Thanks!!
Lisa
