here is a link for patch work cutters plus books

http://globalsugarart.com/search.php?search=patchwork+cutters&searchimage.x=0&searchimage.y=0

Basically the cutters are simple to use you can make a design look 3d.

Say, you get the girl cutter you cut out the main color. Then using the same cutter you cut other colors and using an exacto knife you cut the dress lay that on top of the main body. You do the rest of the colors then you have this really neat design to put on a cake. You can also paint the sections too.

here is a cake from patchworkcutters.com to see how they look

I think these are adorable and I have never heard of them. Are they hard to do and what kind of material do you use. Some of it looked like chocolate???

You can use fondant or gumpaste. At first you may be a little hard depending what design you are trying but once you get it down they are easy.

I have two books once you learn how to use them then you are good to go.

The books only use certain cutters so if you want to buy the book see what designs she is doing do you can get the matching cutters.

Here's a link to Alan T. showing how to use these.  HTH.  He's a really good teacher.

Thank you for the link, I have already seen it. I have been watching cake vids on youtube for about 6 months now, only recently been making cakes. I figure the more I learn before I get started, the less mistakes I will make. I still make plenty though....lol.
