NObody? For real??

If you read this and know of a member that lives in Jacksonville, Florida, would you pass this thread along to them? I'd love to get together with some other decorators around here once in a while.

OMG SophieBelle, this is soooooooo freaky! You know, I came across your name in a thread and noticed you are in Jacksonville and said to myself, how cool would it be to have a freind/fellow decorator by the time I move there... Anyway, long story short, I'm a military wife and we are moving to JAX in Jan '07, we are currently stationed in VA. So, I'll be moving there soon! icon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gificon_biggrin.gif

I'm here, but just dabbling at this point. I am not sure how far I want to get into this. I am still experimenting with icings and cakes. I am working through the Cake Bible to find recipes I like.

"Hey" back atcha, doleta!

Kahuna, my husband actually works just inside St. John's county. icon_smile.gif A bit of a treck, but what can you do? St. Augustine has been one of our favorite places to visit--just went there with my son's class for a Ghost Tour field trip and an IMAX movie at the WGV.

nefgaby, are you moving to NAS JAX?! My dad is retired from the Air Force, so he and my mom use that base for their shopping, medical, etc. I live about ten minutes from the base! I can't wait to meet you!

SophieBelle Posted 7 Nov 2006 , 9:39pm

Orange Park! I used to live there, too! I'm coming down to the Michael's in Argyle to take my very first Wilton class tomorrow morning!

Thanks for replying...I hope we will meet up soon, all of us!

nefgaby Posted 7 Nov 2006 , 9:45pm

Yeeeeeyyyy, (I'm jumping up and down and can't stop smiling) Thanks Dodibug for planning the get together and waiting for me! And SophieBell thanks for starting this awesome thread! Can't wait 'till I move to your area and please don't forget about it as I will add y'all to my buddy list and will PM you as soon as I arrive!! I would love to do this!!! Please don't think I'm crazy, I'm just a military wife who is tired of moving around and l looking forward to my new friends! Oh by the way SophieBell, YES, my DH will be stationed at NAS JAX. (Oh, one more thing, totally out of the decorating subject... we are planning on buying a home as soon as we arrive, but since we don't know the area, would anybody PM me and share with me a few pointers, good and bad neighborhoods... we have a 4 year old who already started school and I'm concerned about his new classmates, neighbors, friends and education)
Thaaaaaaaanks and can't wait!!

Momof-4 Posted 7 Nov 2006 , 9:45pm

Hello Everyone,

My family and I will be moving to jacksonville in a few weeks. We closed on our house last wednesday (in Orange Park). The house was ready 2 months ahead of schedule so we are now trying to get everything in motion. Please keep me in the loop. I would love to be involved in a day of sharing.

Yup, we should have met already for goodness sakes!! But that's o.k., we'll have plenty of time to catch up on the ride!

SophieBelle Posted 9 Nov 2006 , 1:48am

Hey, Girls,

I see some more people joined out little group today! What a great day!

To my OP friend, my Wilton instructor at Michael's is your teacher's mother-in-law, actually. She told us about your teacher today, and how wonderful it is to have her as a daughter-in-law. Pretty cool.

Talk to you all again soon!

fmcmulle Posted 9 Nov 2006 , 11:42am

Wow, It is so exciting to see all these Floridians. I live a couple hours away in Ocoee, Florida. I have been talking to debbie2881 which also lives near me. I would love to meet all you great cake decorators! I have only been doing this since June and I know I could learn alot from all of you. Everyone in my family says all I do is talk about cake. I can't help it. I love decorating.

soniag Posted 9 Nov 2006 , 12:02pm

i live in jacksonville..... kernan area.... new to decorating myself!!! have a few photos but have not uploaded. Just too much talent on this site. i would feel like a total BOBO... LOL!!!!!

dodibug Posted 9 Nov 2006 , 12:43pm

We'll have to put a reminder on our calenders to try to set up a day of sharing since there are so many of us. I know from reading other posts about dos it can be done at someone's house, a group in LA is renting a room at a Micheal's, a clubhouse at an apartment, etc. and usually last about 4 hours or so. It could be alot of fun! Now to get all the hubbies to watch the kids!! icon_wink.gif
