WOW. Can you say YUM!!!? My new molds came from Spinning Leaf and in anticipation of their arrival, I had some Nutter Butters on hand. I dipped some last night and they are GOOD!
I think I like them better than the chocolate covered oreos...
Okay, time to go pass out my samples here at work and see what people think.
Just thought I would pass along...
Don't pass 'em out - send them my way! Agree with you...these little confections are to die for (and I don't even care for nutter butters that are not dipped - go figure)!
Wow that sounds good. and what molds?? Because every time someone mentions something on here, I have to go buy it right away.
ooooh - yummy. My dad would LOVE those. Did you just dip them by hand or use a mold of some sort?
What kind of chocolate did you use? I've been using the Wilton candy melts for convenience, but actually, I don't like the taste which sort of defeats the purpose.
i dip them in white chocolate to make ghosts at halloween time with my kids and use little mini chocolate chips for eyes. not as tasty as regular chocolate but cute!
Also curious as to what chocolate everyone uses for the choc. covered oreos and NutterButters and for that matter, cake balls. I find that the regular dipping chocolate is too hard to bite through. If anyone would like to share what they use to dip the oreos or when they use the cookie molds from Spinning Leaf that would be great. Also I was wondering if there is a way to soften up the dipping chocolate so it is not so hard to bite through.
I use either Merckens candy wafers or Make N Mold candy wafers to use to dip the oreos or now nutter butters. I don't find them to be too hard. They are perfect for me actually. If I remember, I add some paramount crystals to the chocolate to thin it some but I don't think that helps with softening the chocolate, but I could be wrong.
You can do part candy wafer/part chocolate chips to dip. I find that combo of chocolate makes a soft coating which I do not like. Too soft for me. But that works if you're looking for soft chocolate.
I bought the molds from www.spinningleaf.com. They have molds for both oreos and nutter butter as well as a new line of break-away chocolate molds which I have not purchased yet... but I will!
Thanks JenWith. I will have to try ½ wafer ½ choc chip.
I normally use wilton wafer to coat them. Maybe along with some of their other products this one is not great.
My first choice for dipping chocolate is the Ghirardelli Double Chocolate bar from Sam's. Unfortunately, they only carry it during the holidays. I stock up, but once I'm out, I have to wait. So I use about 1/4 chocolate chips to 3/4 cup of the Wilton CandyMelts. The chips help improve the flavor and texture of the CandyMelts and I don't have to worry about tempering. I prefer to keep my chocolates in the fridge, so softness isn't a problem unless I take them somewhere for a pot-luck or something.
THe Double Chocolate Ghiradelli Bars are back at Sams . . . run!! I bought 2 last week!!
Thanks JenWith for the new site! I will definitely be purchasing some of the cookie molds. Sounds very interesting and tasty!
pstaylor...thanks for the update! Time to take out a loan and stock up on chocolate!
O.k Jen, I''m getting a visual...but now I want pictures!!.... Pretty please....With chocolate on top. LOL
They sound heavenly...but can you believe Im a grown woman but have never ever eaten a nutter butter in my life....Ahhh theirs always a first time for everything.....Thanks for sharing
LOL. I am planning on dipping some nutter butters this weekend but they aren't going to be fancy. I will post pictures when I'm finished.
They look Yummy!! Can I have one?...or 3..or..6??
Thanks for the site. I am helping with a breast cancer awareness benefit on the 20th and will order the cookie mold. Is there a tutorial on doing these cookies?
I usually dip my creams in almond bark and sometimes add chocolate chips.
Are you kidding me Jen? Those Choc. dipped Nutter Butters look so good. Yummy! Sorry you had problems though, I appreciate you taking the time to post pictures. You have a way of making everything you make look and sound so deliciouse. Thank You.
Those look great- I just added some to my photos as well- mummies!! They are definitely better than Oreos!
If you go to www.spinningleaf.com, there is a tutorial on that site on how to make the chocolate covered oreos (no tutorial for the nutter butters but it's the same concept). I've only used molds to make the CCOs. I've never dipped by hand but I'm sure it's the same principle as well.
Thanks for the nice compliments! I enjoy make goodies but my weight loss is suffering so I think I'm going to have to back off for a while. LOL.
VERY CUTE Jen! Thanks for sharing that photo! I remember when I got the email newsletter from Spinning Leaf about their new Nutter Butter molds... I was soooo excited. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get the molds yet but soon!
Ordered the oreo and nutter butter molds today. I wanted the ones with the ribbon to do for our breast cancer benefit. Hope I get them in time.
How big and how much is that bar from Sam's? I got a bunch (40 lbs. ) of Hershey's 3 lb. melting chocolate for their fountain and I am about halfway thru it but since I got it at the Grocery Outlet, I may not be able to find any more -thx -
Got my molds in time for the benefit but had to take a side trip to the hospital. Got out on Tues. but having to take it kinda easy. Anyway, I tried to do some of the Oreos with the breast cancer ribbon. How cute!!! I don't know if I can get several done for the benefit tomorrow night or not. I am not patient with doing things like this.
I used almond bark for this first batch but remembered I had some raspberry chocolate chips and think I will try melting some of them with some candy melts. Will take some experimenting on my part tomorrow.
Okay. I did my best in my weakened state. I'll use that for an excuse this time. I know that having a squirt bottle to fill the ribbon part with would have been easier than the decorator brush but I had to use what I had at the time. Did some plain to save time. I'll post a pic but it was taken with my cell phone so not the best in the world.
