I am doing my first edible image cake this weekend...the girl brought me the picture she had bought somewhere else and I have never done one before, there are no instructions with the pic. Do I just lay it on top of the cake and decorate around it or is there something special you do to prepare the cake for the picture...I assumed that it would work better on crusted buttercream...am I right ? I'm a little nervous about this one ! Any advice would be greatly appreciated .

All I do is ice the cake, pop the edible image in the freezer a few seconds, peel the back off and lay it on. It "melts" into the cake.
