I have attempted my first whimsical cake! This is actually a practice cake, the real thing is next weekend for my friend's surprise 50th bday party.

I used the CC tutorial and it worked great, tranported it as is and everything! So glad I did a "rough draft" as I have learned a lot and am better prepared for doing the real thing!

I didn't graduate the layers, the bottom is 10", the middle is 8" and top is 6", all 3-layer except the top is 4. For the real thing, the top will actually be a teapot, tilted, with "happy birthday" in letters, I hope to be pouring out of the teapot spot!

Any tips appreciated!

It sounds like you have a great plan. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Nice--I still don't understand how to get them to look that way and I have studied the tutorial-total optical illusion!
