I just thought I would share because this is my most favorite cake I have made yet! It was for my mom's b-day yesterday. She is a huge shabby chic fan and collects tea cups, so it was fitting. She really loved it.

As an avid tea drinker, I fell in love with this cake the moment I saw it. Love the colours. How did you get the shapes of the cup & saucer?

I did a teapot cake recently -- so I may need to give a teacup cake a try after seeing your beautiful creation. Well done! Please tell us your tricks for the teacup and saucer!

Wow, thanks everyone for the wonderful responese! I am really honored.

Here is what I did for the tea cup: I just make a circle for the saucer and laid it on a saucer that I had, and pressed down to get the indent. Make sure to put some powdered sugar on the plate so it doesn't stick.
For the cup, I cut out another circle then used a glass from my kitchen, flipped it upside down, covered in plastic wrap, then smoothed the fondant over top (kind of the way to cover a cake with fondant). I let them dry a few days, then filled with flowers.

FLOWERS: Somewhere I saw a post about the "duff" roses and that was where I got the info. It is basically 3 circles, overlapping eachother slighlty in a row, then you roll 'em up like a tortilla, and cut in half. Then you have 2 roses. Just spred out the petals however you like. They really are the easiest things in the world!

Thanks again for the great support for this cake. It was so cool to have been able to make it for my mom. Now I just need to see if I can talk her into letting me borrow the teacup, so I can enter this design in the state fair! =)
