How much gumtex would I add to one batch of MMF? I've noticed on CC, it's been mentioned to add gumtex to mmf to make it more stable - but nobody indicates how much and when do I add it?? Thanks
I was about to ask the same thing. I'm sure someone on here knows the answer.
1 teaspoon gumtex per 24 ounces (pound and a half) of fondant. My batches vary in size depending on how much sugar I needed to use, so I end up weighing it, or just estimating how much gumtex. I never put more than 2 teaspoons though, and I've had pretty good results. HTH
When I make a single batch of mmf I add about a tblspoon( gumtex powder) to my batch. If I need to dry quicker and harden up I add about 1/2 tbs more. It seems to work for me. I don't know if that is the correct measurement or not but it did the trick for me. I put it in right as I mixing the last batch of my powdered sugar....
Hope this helps or maybe someone else has better measurements than me.....
Thanks for the information - really appreciate it.
Weighing the MMF is a pretty good way to know how much gum paste to add. You'll want to add somewhere around 50% to get good'n hard decorations. I'm not so exacting, tho. I take an amount and then sort of match it up with gum paste, so far that has been fine.
