Add some green leaves to the roses &/or put one in each of the lower corners.

I think some leaves around the flowers would be nice

Leaves...yes that was my first thought too. and maybe a few rose buds tapering off from the full roses...to about the mid section of the oval?

Thanks gals. I'm planning on adding some leaves, but wasn't sure if that would help much. The customer wanted roses and red, white and blue theme.

I WANT THAT RED RED RED FROSTING!

How did you do it and what did you use?

Carolyn- I used a combination of Americolor gel and a little bit of Wilton's red gel color (just had a little bit left). I have the best luck getting deep red frosting when I mix small batches.

Why don't you make a solid circle stripe of red and blue in your white circle. Sort of give the cake balance on the interior part.

You can't have roses with out leaves!! You could always make them blue. Just kidding. You did just fine and you can add leaves to a red white and blue theme.

Same here, I have been saying that all along. It's way easier to make a small batch then it is to make a big batch. Then add a small amount to the red batch and keep adjusting with more gel paste. Works every time.

I'm with everyone else. Just add some leaves. It still looks good either way. I like that color of red too. I'll have to try mixing the colors. I never even thought of that. Thanks for the idea.

Here's the end result. I liked the idea of the blue circle inside the white, but was afraid to try adding it. The leaves helped, but I don't think I'd want this for my B-day cake!

Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the compliment about my writing. I do one of 2 things. Either I make a transfer w/piping gel and let it firm up for several hours and then imprint it on my cake or I use the pin prick method and imprint that on my cake. With this cake, i did pin prick method.
