How in the world do you cover a cake tier with fondant that is larger at the top than at the bottom?? If you look at my topsy-turvy baby shower cake (blue & brown) you will see why I ask. icon_surprised.gif

Seems illogical to me...roll out a circle (circles are larger on the outside)edge and try to place on an object where the outside edge of the circle goes on the smallest part of the object!!! icon_lol.gif

Thanks so much

I'm far from a professional but. . .I have done this before, once! It actually wasn't that hard, just took a bit more smoothing and such. When I cover my cakes with fondant I always put my cake on top of something smaller in diameter than the cake. This allows my fondant to hang down and requires less work in my opinion. I just kept smoothing and working out the wrinkles and Viola! ( my fonadant was still pretty stretchy if that helps) I had to work quickly aswell. HTH. (Hopefully someone with more "know-how" will post.

A lot of "stretch & smooth"... lather, rinse, repeat.

Thanks AuntieElle, I raise my cakes onto a smaller plaform than the cake. Did you do yours while the cake was cold or room temp?
