I have a cake in 1 week and I have a picture of it but it's not very big. It is a cake in our Safeway bakery that is called Chantilly lace. BEAUTIFUL> The only thing is I can't see the border very well. Does anyone have one of these and can you help me? I even used a magnifing glass but I'm just not sure. I want to make it as exact as possible (but close would be good!!!) Thanks for the HELP!!!!!!
If you could post the picture that would be really helpful!
I think what you're saying is chantilly lace may be cornelli lace .. not sure though .. but from all my google searches, everything I pull up under chantilly laces shows pics of cornelli lace
It's is Chantilly Lace. That is the name of the cake. I will try to post a picture . It is the bottom border that I can't see. Thanks for all the help. My Husband said if I can't see it they cant either. So close is good enough.
I say exact is better but if I have to I'll take close. I hope the picture turnes out. New at this adding pictures thing
I think it looks like a fondant lace cutout for the border.Whichever it is a very pretty cake. It also looks like there are some swiss dots above the border
I have the Lace Mold for the top but the bottom I need the help. What are swiss Dots? I thought they were hearts above the bottom border. What is the bottom border made with?
Is it shells with a ruffel around it or a small zig zag maybe? Possibly another small row of shells?
From what I can tell they look like crowns with flor de lis. I'm not sure beceause I can't see the pic to well.
Ok... I found it! I went to an old wilton wedding book and there is was! They use a shell border ( in one pic a tip 30 and another a tip 22) Then they use a ziz zag arch over each one using a tip 14. It deffinately looks like swiss dots over that. Swiss dots are just small dots in groups of three. Hope this helps!
YAHOO! Whay year book was that!? I looked through tons of them! Thank you all so much.
Well I'll let you all know how it turns out! It's a July 30th wedding
It's in a book called teh Wilton Book of Wedding Cakes. It's from 1971. I got it from ebay for $2.00. Glad I could help you. I think I'd practice on a cake pan or dummy to get it just the way you want before doing it on the real cake. Make sure to post a pic when you're done!
It looks like someone used an impression mat to make the design. This is where you roll out fondant and then place it over the mat/mold and roll it over to make the design.
The website "Cakes by Sam" has several of them fo sale.
For all those who helped I have posted a picture in the contemporary wedding cake s under the key word "Wheeler"
Your cake came out very nice! I think it looks very classy. And above all that the bride liked it too!
turned out great!
