Hi Diane, im in Florida and I can tell you that its not easy to have a home business. The best thing to do is contact the Department of Agriculture in the county that you'll be living in and they will give you all of the information that you'll need. Good luck!!

It is not legal to bake from your home and sell to the public in Florida. The only way you can is to have a separate area away from your living quarters and it has to be inspected by the state.

We are working on getting the Cottage Food Act passed in Florida and this will allow us to bake from home and sell to the public.

If you would like more information on how you can help send me an email at [email protected]

Barbara,

Now that the law is enacted, how is business? Did you have to get a business license to operate?
