So I made a cute little cake for a woman transferring to another store. Since she was the cheese specialist, I made her a little cheese wheel with mice...well, she dropped in yesterday to say that she doesn't want to cut it and wants to keep it - and was looking for shellac!

Can she do this and prevent it from molding? It's a marble cake with chocolate BC (Duff's recipe of egg whites, white sugar and butter with added chocolate) covered in MMF. Mice and grapes are MMF also.

I'm just concerned that one morning, she'll wake up to some green or white fuzzies on her cheese!

I don't think it can be preserved. It will start to mold from the inside out even with the shellac. It's very cute. I can see why she'd want to keep it. Maybe you can make her something out of modeling clay or gumpaste to keep?

Nah. I'm not making anything else. We're not really friends or anything and I made this cake for free just because I thought it would be a cute idea.

I really have no desire to make anything else LOL.

If she paid me though....now that might change things....

I really don't think that it can be preserved. I think it will end up being a moldy mess. It's absolutely beautiful! But with the eggs and the butter....... I don't think it will have that long of a life. So sorry... it's just gorgeous!! I would want to keep it too!
