Excuse ignorance...crisco as i know it is a brand of oil. Please let me know what it is when making crusting buttercream?
crisco is vegetable shortening. I don't know what kind of equivalent you would have in AUS. I read in one book that copha is a substitute but someone said that they aren't similar at all. So I don't know hun for sure.

Hi Rowls!!
David Jones stocks the Crisco shortening in their food hall/grocery section. If your nearest store doesn't have it, they'll transfer from another store for you. Also, http://www.usafoods.com.au/ will supply by mail-order (they are based in Melbourne)
Thank you for all your answers. It has been so helpful. I will try DJ's tomorrow. What is the shelf life for it? Fridge or cupboard?
OzCookie - Is that David Jones in Melbourne or another city?
Barbara, I have bought it in Sydney only, but if Melbourne don't stock it you can find it at
