I don't like the NFSC!! icon_eek.gif Some people in my family like them and request them, but are there other options for a fluffier, softer cookie that I might enjoy better that forms just as well as the NFSC?

Say it ain't so Princess!!! icon_surprised.gificon_cry.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif I'm just teasing you!! A lot of people like Martha Stewart's Sugar cookie better. You might want to give that a try. You can find the recipe at her website.

icon_lol.gif HAHA denise! Your funny! I just never acuired to taste for them, I am a chocoholic and love me some chocolate chip all the way, but I am sure they dont look as pretty as sugar cookies. Could I just add more sugar to make them sweeter? I just think they taste bland!OOPS icon_eek.gif

Quite scary, we live in Mercer county closest to Frankfort and Lexington. I dont think I have ever seen that much lightning in my life. It rained a ton, but I think everyone is safe here, no bad reports, mainly just in lexington. Its so weird though, they said tonight was going to be just as bad but the sunset was GORGEOUS!

My family loves my cream cheese sugar cookies. It is posted in the recipe section on this site. They have a very creamy taste. Give them a try. Our brothers and sisters can't wait for her cookie trays at christmas!

YOUR THE SECOND PERSON TODAY TO COMPLIMENT MY TAG! I LOVE IT TOO!

cakeatopia Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 12:16am

I lkie the NFSC but I really think I may go back to The Joy Of Christmas Cookies(same people that brought us The Joy of Cooking) Sugar cookie recipe. It has lemon zest that really gives it a nice flavor. I have been using NFSC w/mmf just to be openminded.

cakeatopia- i have been wandering what the sugar cookies taste like with the mmf, what do you think about them and are they easy to do?

Yeah Princess....it was bad here too! So much lightening and the thunder, it was shaking our house. The news said it was going to be bad here again tonight, and I thought I can't go through another night of it, but now they have called it off. I'm glad that you guys are okay!!

I have probably asked you before, but what part of KY are you from? Now I will remember you from your lovely "Mathew McConaughy" he's hot. icon_surprised.gif

NEWTODECORATING Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 12:44am

Princess I was going to suggest icing with MMF. It is the sweetness you are looking for and goes well with the cookie. Then you can decorate with your favorite royal.

Princess3 Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 12:52am

Newtodecorating-

you know I am not quite sure what it is I dont like about them. I have tried to figure it out by eating a whole one that I made. I guess I am just used to chocolate chip. I have only used Antonia74 royal icing and I think that is good, I just think the sugar cookie taste bland maybe? And I have only done MMF accents on one cake and have thought about that too. I want to try everything to find what I like best, but that can be expensive "experimenting"! I like buttercream dream but not sure if that crust well enough when you need to package them for bouquets and such. But for individual cookies I think that would be great. I like to make bc but it just yields too much, and i would have a ton leftover and not good with refridgerating things! Any suggestions would help!

zoraya Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 12:53am

subaru - do you have the link for the cream cheese SC? I'm not having any luck finding it. TIA

dl5crew Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 12:54am

Ya'll that are from West Virginia I have a question. I have a very dear friend who is from there originally. We were talking a few weeks ago. She made a statement that baffled me. She told me she was from WV(which I knew already) She said "You know what they say about people from WV." I thought no. I didn't ask what that meant. Is there a meaning to that?

candy177 Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 12:58am

I know I'm not subaru, but I found the recipe and thought I'd post it.

I think I'll try the cookies on Tuesday! (Next day off...)

Sounds tasty!

Princess3 Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 1:03am

YUMMY! These look wonderful, and if they are softer I have to try them. Do you all think they could use the same idea as the NFSC as to putting them between two pieces of parchment paper and refridgerating them like that?

zoraya Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 1:03am

thank you candy177! They sound yummy, will try those next. I made the NFSC this week and thought they were a bit bland too. But I covered with MMF and they taste great now.

Princess3 Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 1:07am

zoraya- how do they taste with mmf on them? I imagine they are probably the cheapest route rather than making a batch of bc or ri.?

NEWTODECORATING Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 1:21am

dl5crew- I would be afraid to guess icon_lol.gif

My mother does not like MMF, and she did not like the NFSC. But when put together she kept munching at them. I said " I thought you didn't like MMF and NFSC?!" She said "Me too!" I really like them together.

Princess3 Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 1:26am

That's funny! I just need to try them and get them over with. So typically do you cover the cookie in the mmf and then pipe other decorations with ricing?

NEWTODECORATING Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 1:31am

I think this is the easiest method of icing cookies. I stick my cookies in the oven and while they are baking I use the same cookie cutter to cut out the MMF. While the cookies are still on the cookie sheet straight out of the oven I put the MMF on them. It kind of melts to the cookie and when cooled you have a nice evenly iced cookie. Then do your details with royal or your favorite icing that will dry.

dl5crew Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 1:31am

New to decorating: Thank you.
Ya'll have me wanting to do cookies now. What is the best pan to use?

NEWTODECORATING Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 1:33am

dl5crew- icon_lol.gif you keep asking questions I have no answers for icon_lol.gif I really want to know this too icon_biggrin.gif Maybe Antonia will come along soon thumbs_up.gif

icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif I hope you don't take me serious icon_rolleyes.gif I am NOT a serious person icon_biggrin.gif I am joking with you!

Princess3 Posted 24 Sep 2006 , 1:41am

What do you mean which pan to use? Do you mean the cookie sheet you just bake them on? I just use a plain ole' cookie sheet.
