Hi Everyone,

I need to do a unique Dora the Explorer cake around $30 that isn't like everyone elses Dora cake (Although I love those cakes!!) It is for a young kid so it mostly should be frosting, not so much fondant. I wanted to do a few fondant decorations, but not sure what I could do...can ya help a cake sista out? I have to have it finished by this weekend, so any quick help would be appreciated! Thanks!!!

There's a Dora one in my pics (with the palm tree) That I did. Just used dora toys on it. or you could do a tiered cake with waterfall and teh dora figures (one of the episodes Dora and Diego save the baby jaguar from the waterfall ~ they sell that set of figures at the store...)

I have done several Dora cakes, and I don't like to do repeats, so here are links to mine. Hope it helps to give you an idea:

Traci made a great one on this site for a young kid. Not too much colored icing to stain and it is a DORAble icon_smile.gif

Well this might be a "new" idea, being it is a new movie, and nothing like anything made before. There is a new movie called Dora saves the Mermaid. You can do a take off of the movie and make Dora a mermaid and do and under the sea theme?? Here is a link to the movie that shows the cover and has Dora as a mermaid. HTH some, Jen

Idea #1
You can make the Map from fondant. Boots (the monkey) can have red fondant boots. Maybe make the cake showing Boots and Dora going to a party (walking towards balloons). They always use the map to go somewhere in every episode.

Idea #2
They also use the backpack to hold all the good stuff. You can have Dora 's face next to backpack (w map in the pocket) and have all the party stuff around the backpack (small cake, candle, balloons, presents)

Lots of luck & Happy Decorating!

I just finished one today. I was so stumped and so I went and asked my daughter (turning 4) what she wanted, she said purple with yellow polka dots. Fortunately she has like a gazillion dora dolls so I found one that matched, melted some chocolate for a base, and used is as a topper. It's in my photos.
