Does anyone have any tips for making the colorflow icing without Wilton's Color Flow Icing Mix? I'm getting ready to make something tomorrow with color flow and didn't realize that I needed to get mix. icon_rolleyes.gif

Make sure you give it enought time to dry. It takes forever. Pipe borders using a thick consistency to act as walls, then thin the colorflow. Make sure the consistency is right, it should be runny but not watery, otherwise you;ll get overflow instead of colorflow. It's great for letters. I rarely use colorflow (I prefer RI) but it certainly has a nice shine.

Thanks for the tips, but I'm wondering if there is anything I can substitute for the color flow mix? I'm going to be using these letters to stand on top of a cake, would royal icing do the same thing? Would it hold up?

Yes, you can use RI. But make extra letters in case of breakage.

Royal Icing, gumpaste or pastillage would work
