Boxed Cake?

i have a wedding cake coming up and they want to keep the cost very very low! its a stacked heart shapped cake and i was wondering if i could just used a boxed white cake mix? does anyone know if boxed cake mixes textures are strong enough to stack? ahh help!

I have stacked them. Just make sure you place your dowels/straws and place the smaller cake on a cake board. Mine worked well.

I've done it for 25 years. I dont' work with fondant and I've seen threads that express concern about the texture of the cake being strong or dense enough to support the weight of the fondant. So if you are going to use fondant, you really should get some opinions from those who work with this material, also.

I use this enhanced cake recipe from CC. I don't do much fondant either... HTH

No worries!
I use DH mises for all of my cakes.

I give them a bit of doctoring with added egg, pudding etc.....
They hold up to fondant great!

Be sure to use a cake board for each tier, and use dowels for additional support.
